Downtown Plan for the Future

FDR attended public hearings in 2012 and presented a strong position in support of the Town of Framingham's Route 126 (Concord Street) Downtown Roadway Improvement Project.  The majority of the work will take place on route 126 (Concord Street - Hollis Street) from just north of Lincoln Street to just south of Irving Street.  Also involved will be portions of Union Avenue, Irving Street, Park Street, Howard Street, and the Downtown Common.  Upgrades include ornamental traffic signals at the Concord Street/Union Avenue and Hollis Street/Irving Street intersections, and improved traffic signals at the Concord Street/Lincoln Street, Concord Street/Howard Street and Concord Street/Waverly Street interesections.

The project will achieve rehabilitation and reconstruction of roadway pavement, construction and reconstruction of sidewalks, the installation of curbing, storm water collection system improvements, and ornamental street lighting.  Anticipated streetscape improvements will provide special sidewalk and crosswalk treatments, street trees and street furniture such as planters and benches.
